PostSubject: New mother syndrom... several questions - seeking answers   Tue Mar 03, 2009 9:44 pm

Hey... I'm probably just being a worry-wart but I have a couple concerns. Please help.

My eldest ball python, a male I would assume about 2 yrs (not sure because I rescued him), he has been in excellent health since I got him feeding him on a regular schedule (he was really skinny). But...

I've recently noticed, however, that he makes a noise thats not wheezing or coughing but it's not a hiss either, its more something in the middle. He does it randomly; I've notice more when I've been handling him because hes closer to my ear. I've read everything I could find on the internet and he hasn't ever had any foamy stuff around his mouth and has been kept in the prime conditions in his tank. I'm not sure if I should be worried???

He's eating great, and has shed fully everytime since I've gotten him on a schedule. He's never been agressive, he loves being handled and out of his tank (Am I handling him too much?)

I have him housed with a smaller male ball in a 75 Gal tank; the little one has never made the noise. They've never showed any territorial characteristics, in fact it's the opposite, they're always together and follow each other around the tank (and they've both been sexed and are definetly males). I feed them both F/T, seperatly, and out of they're tank. Does it have something to do with the co-habitation??

If someone could please assit me with some answers because I am as bad as a new mother, worrying about everything. Thanks in advance!

Hello civilgirl and welcome to the forum,

The first thing for me would be can you find out if he was housed with a boa? It may be hard but try to search, for the answer may let us know some possible causes.
